How is this helpful. The guide just shows a little hole and a custom sort of plug that magically holds up the lamps weight and tension?? No measurements or and instruction on how to actually do this.

Great kettle, but no long after I bought it - the kettle boils for way too long before it stops automatically. Any tips of fixing this? There seems to be a theme to these sowden appliances having didgy off buttons,

Glad you like it. Unfortunately this lamp isn't dimmable - it is supplied with an on/off switch on the cable.
No disrespect to the current manufacturers but I find the utter irony of the Nelson Lamp series and perversion of the designs original intent pretty hilarious: it begins with light fixture for rich people that's super expensive due to the hand labor involved, Nelson comes along and ingeniously develops a far cheaper alternative by utilizing modern tech/manufacturing techniques, years later Nelson's "cheaper alternative" itself becomes a super expensive light fixture for rich people.
Thank you for your comment and feedback. The Nelson Lamp really has an interesting history behind it and as production techniques progress over time so do the pieces themselves, opening up plenty of topics like this for discussion.
It’s a similar story with the Eames chair and ottoman. Charles and Ray wanted to make beautiful quality furniture attainable for the average person and now it’s a product only the rich can obtain.
